God Lifted Her Load

Several years ago Joy struggled through a heartbreaking crisis for many months. Her daughter had left home to live with a young man who proclaimed himself to be the leader of a rock group. He built castles in the air of taking the band on the road for concerts. Of course, her daughter would be included in all this worldly glory.

Time passed and the tinsel of promised fame became tarnished. Living in an old converted garage soon lost its glitter. Eventually, Joy’s daughter returned home.

She was very thankful for the homecoming and expressed gratitude to God. However, her daughter’s depression was impossible to overlook. Joy felt she was teetering on the edge of another wrong decision.

Her intuition proved correct. Soon she returned to her friend and to a lifestyle that was alien to that of her Christian upbringing.

Pain gripped Joy’s heart and depression settled in like a cold black cloud. One day when the ache was especially acute, she was hanging laundry outside. As she worked, words of a brighter tomorrow began forming within her mind and she began to express them in song. God gave her a simple little chorus that day complete with a melody.

As she sang it over and over, she could sense the heavy burden being lifted from her heart as her faith grew stronger.

Indeed there was sunlight in the morning. After being gone for several months, Joy’s daughter returned home. She began attending a church, where, encouraged by loving young adults, she began growing spiritually.

Thank You, Jesus, for lifting our loads when we call to You and allow ourselves to fully trust Your promises.

“He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich storehouse of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure” (Isaiah 33:6).
