Jesus Wants to Share His Burden

G. C. Bevington, a man of great faith, said he learned the importance of praying until he could discern what request to make. In doing that, he would sense the burden on Jesus’ heart.

If we pray for a desire God has put into our hearts, then the request comes down from Him and when it returns to Him, He will hear and answer.

I find it interesting that the night Jesus was arrested and He and His disciples went to the garden of Gethsemane to pray, He shared His distress with only the closest three. He left the others about a “stone’s throw” away—far enough that they would not have heard the burden on His heart.

“He took Peter, James, and John along with him, and he began to be deeply distressed and troubled. ‘My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death,’ he said to them” (Mark 14:33, 34).

Jesus wanted to share His burdens with those closest to Him. He still does.

Jesus, help Me to pray until I know what is on Your heart.

“In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will” (Romans 8:26, 27).
