Tears that Express Love

While I drove to pick up a lady who had agreed to read the Bible with me, I was weeping for her, longing for her to come to know Jesus. The scripture came to me, "He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him" (Psalm 126:6 KJV).

Our tears do not save others, but when we long for others "with the affection of Christ Jesus" (Philippians 1:8), we will often shed tears.

Perhaps nothing pleases Christ more than for us to share His passion for others so deeply that we are moved to tears. Tears can express love.

God is "not willing that any should perish" (2 Peter 3:9). Whose names would you put into this sentence? I am not willing that  ______________  should fail spiritually?

t wasn't until Wesley Duewel arrived in Korea to give prayer retreats that he learned why he had been invited. "When about 30 of our Korean leaders visited the USA last year, I was unexpectedly asked to close a gathering with prayer. God gave me such an instant burden as I prayed for Korea that I could not restrain the tears. Of course, I had been praying regularly for North Korea. Somehow this story had been told in the churches there, and several times people said to me, 'We all know about your tears.' One leader added, 'That's why we invited you to come this year.'"

When the Spirit pours His love into our hearts, tears are often a byproduct of our passion.

Father, give me a heart that longs for others with the affection of Christ.

"For I wrote you out of great distress and anguish of heart and with many tears, not to grieve you but to let you know the depth of my love for you" (2 Corinthians 2:4).
