Our Band-aid God

I heard a father say that there is one time his daughters come to him. Usually, he said, they go to their mother with their questions-like what dress should they wear-but there is one time when they come to him, and that is when they get hurt.

He declared he is the band-aid king in their home. It could just take 30 seconds to put on a band-aid, but he makes such a deal out of it, it takes 30 minutes.

During these moments, they allow him to hold them and draw them close. He said "They think it is for them, but it is really for me." He didn't cause the hurt, but he uses that time to show them extra love.

That's the way our Heavenly Father is. He always longs to show His love to us, but often it is when we are hurting that we draw close to Him, and we find He is the perfect Comforter.

When our hearts are broken, we want more than to know of an almighty God who lives up in heaven; we want One who allows us to weep on His shoulders.

Thank You, Father, for all the joys that come with being Your daughter.

"I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty" (2 Corinthians 6:18).
