Her Empty Suitcase
A missionary in Spain who traveled to Paris, France to teach a group of Christian workers on holiness shared this story about her trip.
“Back in January when I bought my ticket, I felt impressed that I needed to take a suitcase and bought a ticket that allowed me to check one bag. I thought that perhaps I might be taking supplies such as the holiness booklets. But when it was time to go, my suitcase was pretty empty. Was it just about ease of travel—no….now the rest of the story.
“As I was walking out of the church on Sunday, the pastor’s wife showed me a large shopping bag that had a heavy box inside it. It was a new blender. I asked if she needed me to take it to the home where we were eating supper.
“‘No,’ she said. ‘It is a gift for you.’
“Wow—how am I going to get it home? Well, you probably guessed it. It fit in my suitcase! It was on the heavy side, but not overweight.
“Jesus is so good! Someone was going to give me a gift, and Jesus prepared me to be able to receive it.
Dear Jesus, help us hear Your voice so we are always ready to receive the good gifts You want to give.
“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” (1 John 3:1).
