Meet Him at the Throne of Mercy
A couple needing spiritual help came to visit, and at the close of the evening, my husband led us in prayer. For a few fleeting seconds, I felt that if I also led in prayer the Lord would be pleased. But I hesitated and lost the opportunity.
After prayer, I was sad that I had not responded to the Lord's prompting.
The next morning regrets lingered. As I combed my hair, a song kept going through my mind: "Meet Him at the throne of mercy; He is waiting for you there."
Those words sparked hope, and I hurriedly got dressed and went to my study. It was the tenth of the month, so I read the psalms for the day: 10, 40, 70, 100, 130. The exact words I needed were there for me.
Here are some of the verses that I wrote in my journal that morning.
"I am poor and needy; Yet the LORD thinks upon me. You are my help and my deliverer" (Psalm 40:17 NKJV). A similar verse was in Psalm 70.
"His mercy is everlasting" (Psalm 100:5 KJV).
"If you, O LORD, kept a record of sins, O Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness" (Psalm 130:3, 4).
Thank You, Lord, that you prefer to forgive and encourage rather than to continually condemn.
"I love the LORD, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy" (Psalm 116:1).
