Spirit-Guided Prayers

Rees Howells, Intercessor is the story of a man whose prayers literally directed world events. One of the first things the Spirit taught him was that effective praying must be guided praying, and that, rather than praying for all kinds of things at his own whim or fancy, he was to expect the Holy Spirit to guide his asking. The Spirit gave him these key words, "Of all that I give you see that you lose nothing." He was to pray and receive everything for which the Spirit impressed him to pray.

The Holy Spirit will help us know what requests we should ask. Then when the Spirit of God guides us to desire a specific thing, we're to pray until it's given.

Notice the command God made to Moses about Pharaoh in Exodus 4:21: "...see that you perform before Pharaoh all the wonders I have given you the power to do."

God is still putting in our hands wonders He wants to do. Often these wonders are simply desires He gives us. He is saying, "Keep bringing these before Me. Ask, seek, knock, and these wonders will be opened. See that you lose none of what I want to give you."

Expect the Spirit to guide your praying. He is the Spirit of supplication and is in us to direct us to pray what the Father wants to give.

Thank You, Father, for giving us the Spirit to enable us to pray.

And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will" (Romans 8:27).
