The Fragrance God Enjoys Most

I love the fragrance of a bouquet of lilacs or the scent of a burning vanilla candle. What represents the most delightful fragrance to you? God chose the sweet aroma of burning spices to speak of our prayer and praise.

When we lift our desires to God, He receives them as though they are a precious fragrance. Our prayers are unspeakably precious to God. It is as though He refreshes Himself with our prayers.

"Let my prayer be set forth before Thee as incense" (Psalm 141:2 KJV).

In heaven the "four living creatures and the twenty-four elders...were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints" (Revelation 5:8).

The sense of smell is perhaps the most delicate, the finest of all our senses, and it is this that God uses to describe our petitions and praise. How wonderful that fragrant incense can arise from our spirits to God any time, wherever we are!

Dear Father, I love knowing You joyfully receive my prayer as fragrant incense-even my silent petitions as I go about my work.

"Another angel, who had a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense to offer, with the prayers of all the saints, on the golden altar before the throne. The smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of the saints, went up before God" (Revelation 8:3, 4).
