We Can Minister to God!

"I think I should be involved in more ministry." The friend speaking was the wife of a minister who had temporarily stepped away from the pastorate. 

We began to discuss a different way of looking at ministry. Fortunately for us who want to live wholeheartedly for the Lord, whether we're busy at home or at the office, we can be continually involved in ministry to the Lord. 

The Holy Place in the Old Testament tabernacle represented the place where the priests ministered. To the right when the priests entered the Holy Place stood the table that held the bread of the Presence. The sharing of this bread represents the communion we have when our spirits commune with the Holy Spirit. Amazingly, this communion not only satisfies us but it also satisfies God! 

In fact, the priests were to offer this bread to God for six days and on the seventh they could eat it. It was as though God wants us to know our communion with Him is first of all for His pleasure. It is more than making petitions and is often not accompanied by words at all. Communion is an attitude of loving contemplation of God, often focusing on taking in His Words and accompanied by joy. We can be busy all the time and yet be sending a sweet fragrance to God by enjoying His presence. 

Jesus said, "I am the living bread that came down from heaven." The following words sometimes spoken in a communion service can be done at any time: "Feed on Him in your hearts by faith." God considers such fellowship so delightful that He says our enjoying His presence is a ministry to Him. 

Thank You, Jesus, that it's possible to delight You whatever I'm doing.

"And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat" (Exodus 25:22 KJV).
