You Can Pray to Orion's Maker

Some years ago we had a pastor named R. E. Carroll who challenged us to see the glory of God revealed in the heavens. The following description of the stars is taken from his book High Conceptions of God:

"Consider the constellation of stars called Orion, always in its place in the heavens. Late at night one can see Orion with his belt marked by 3 bright stars across the waistline and the sword hanging down from his belt at an angle, marked by 3 more stars. In that middle star, is a galaxy. And in the middle of that galaxy, is a hole. Across that hole, from side to side, there is enough room for 2000 solar systems the size of our solar system. Elohim made that wondrous creation."

When we need help, it is good to remember that our "help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth" (Psalm 121:2). It seems God tells us of His power merely to let us know it is available for our needs. Whatever our need, God can do infinitely more than we would think to ask.

I praise You, Father, for using your power to care for me.

"He alone has spread out the heavens and marches on the waves of the sea. He made all the stars--the Bear, Orion, the Pleiades, and the constellations of the southern sky. His great works are too marvelous to understand. He performs miracles without number" (Job 9:8-10).
