Anne Graham Lotz's Solution

In her Fall newsletter,* Anne Graham Lotz said her past year has been characterized by hardships. Her husband Danny came home after two months in the hospital and rehab. While it was wonderful to have him home, her care-giving took on a new dimension. Since coming home he has had three hospitalizations plus a broken kneecap, broken ribs, and a troublesome dialysis fistula.

On one occasion, Danny was told that the dialysis center would try once more to get his port to function properly. If it did not, he would be sent to the surgeon who would try to come up with a solution to the problem.

Friday morning, she drove Danny to the center, walked in with him, and told the in-charge nurse she wanted to speak with the technician who would be accessing the fistula for dialysis. When she asked why, Anne said she wanted to pray with him.

The nurse laughed in her face. Her expression said, "This is a joke. Very funny."
Anne ignored her reaction and looked her in the eye and said her husband was dealing with a broken kneecap, a broken rib, and now this. They had had enough. It was time to pray.

As the nurse waved over the technician, she was still laughing, and in a mocking tone said, "She wants to pray for you."

The technician responded, "I would like that," and bowed his head.

With Danny, the laughing nurse, and the respectful technician, Anne prayed! And God answered! The fistula was still working as she wrote the newsletter.
