Pastor Ronnie Floyd said, "I am an expert on pride." When God brought major revival to his life, He addressed his pride dramatically. It was a Saturday night in the middle of a long-term fast. After wrestling in bed and unable to sleep, feeling that God was calling him to prayer, he got up about 1:00 a.m. He was lying on the living room floor praying with his Bible open. God led him to Isaiah 57:15 that said, "I live in a high and holy place, and with the oppressed and lowly of spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and revive the heart of the oppressed." In that setting deep brokenness came upon him.
He felt the Holy Spirit said to him, "Ronnie, you are the problem in your church. You are filled with pride."
Since being saved in high school, Ronnie had always had a great passion to walk with the Lord, and every day since high school he started his day with God. He said, "Yet it was on that floor God arrested me with His powerful presence. Since that moment I have never been the same. I am not the same man, the same pastor, the same husband, or the same father I once was. Fasting and prayer have been a gateway through which God has done supernatural things in my life."
Pastor Floyd said, "There is nothing more deadly than pride in our lives, and the only cure for pride is humility and brokenness."
Dear Father, lead us to your plan for prayer and fasting in our lives.
"Even now," declares the LORD, "return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning. Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the LORD your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity" (Joel 2:12-13).

Every time God has called me to fast for whatever periods of time, He moves in my life profoundly. Through prayer and fasting, we can begin to know the power of God like never before.

"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland" (Isaiah 43:19).
