The Best Joy

A few years ago our daughter and her husband were preparing to move out of town. It was time to leave and their house had not sold. They wanted to have a spirit of praise, but it was difficult.

As we sat at dinner the night before they left, I said, “We would have had a lot of joy if you had sold your house, but perhaps God has a different purpose. He always has a purpose when we’ve prayed sincerely and our prayers are not answered in the way we had hoped.

Maybe God wants you to discover that the greatest joy comes not as a result of what He gives us-but through our trusting Him. Romans 15:13 says, “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him.”

Dear Jesus, my joy and peace come as I trust You to be faithful to give me Your best.
